Watched the movie Remember Me this morning in Star Movies Channel. It is a reading and watching in one because of its subtitle.
The quote below from the movie is worth reflecting:
“Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it’s very important that you do it because nobody else will. Like when someone comes into your life and half of you says: “You’re nowhere near ready”. And the other half says: “Make her yours forever”. Michael, Caroline asked me what would I say if I knew you could hear me. I said: “I do know. I love you. God, I miss you, and I forgive you.”
Comparing myself to others would result to two things: superiority or inferiority, pride or self-pity. There’s no need for it. Each is special.
The quote reminds me that I’m unique and there are things that only I can do. There are things that only you can do. It affirms that my uniqueness is as important as yours and each of us performs a significant role if not in the society, but to a person beside you. Somebody needs you. It makes life worth living. If I only live for myself, then I’m nothing, “a chasing after the wind.”
Lastly, simple words like “I love you” expressed sincerely and heartily will always be a relief to the one who utter it and a joy to whom it’s addressed.
Sadly, there are many of these left unsaid because of shyness and/or pride. More tragic, others will never have the chance, overtaken by death.
